Welcome to the aki!

The aki is an open house and a place of encounter for students - and it's home of the Catholic University Chaplaincy in Bern. Here, students can find free space and a place here where they can pursue their interests in depth. The aki offers also counselling and accompaniment. We are open to all students - regardless of religion or ideology.

The main language of our events is usually German. But the aki can also be a place for English-speaking students to meet new people: every Tuesday and Thursday from 12 noon there is a vegetarian lunch (register by 10 a.m. at info(at)aki-unibe.ch) and students can also rent our rooms for free - for personal work, talks, meetings, rehearsals, lectures and events. There is a cafeteria which is not rented out and is available to all visitors. With its table football table, open bookcase and access to the large garden, it invites you to drop by spontaneously and spend some time here. Those who like to retreat into silence for a moment to meditate or organise their thoughts will find a place to do so in the chapel on the 1st floor. Two meeting rooms offer space for individuals and small groups during the day. A large hall is ideal for events and from 2025 there will also be a chill room, for example for film evenings in the basement. Last but not least there is a music room with an electric piano and drums in the basement. Our rooms can be booked in advance or used spontaneously if they are available. Parties are not permitted as there is another flat in the same building.

The aki is open from 8.00 to 18.00 during term time. In the evenings after 18.00 and on Fridays it is open irregularly. It is also possible to rent rooms outside of these opening hours.

Feel free to contact us to get to know the aki!
